No. The S-Mic 2S uses the same capsule and a miniaturized version of the S-Mic 2 circuitry. The main reason for its existence is the S-Mic 2 is not ideal for indoor booming. The shorter body of the S-Mic 2S reduces the chances that you’ll run into any phasing issues from hard reflective surfaces often found indoors. It also is easier to boom in rooms with low ceilings.
